Role Summary
The Secondary Homeroom Teacher delivers the secondary curriculum, ensures student safety and wellbeing, and drives high academic and behavioural standards. The role includes lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, and collaboration with school leaders and parents to improve student outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver approved secondary curriculum using varied, research-based instructional strategies
- Plan lessons, weekly planners, and formative/summative assessments; submit materials for review as required
- Assess and track student progress; maintain accurate records and report books and use data to inform instruction
- Create and maintain a safe, well-organised, and engaging classroom environment, including displays and learning resources
- Set, mark, and return homework within school timelines and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Participate in classroom observations and professional development; collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to maintain academic standards
- Communicate student progress and concerns to parents in line with school policy and attend parent meetings when required
Qualification & Requirements
- Native English speaker
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject; teaching qualification preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years’ teaching experience at the secondary level
- Strong classroom management and assessment literacy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
