Role Summary
The Primary Homeroom Teacher is responsible for delivering the primary curriculum while ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and holistic development of students. The role prioritizes high academic standards, classroom organisation, student assessment, and cooperative engagement with school leadership and parents to support learning outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver the primary curriculum using effective instructional strategies and approved resources
- Plan and prepare lesson plans, weekly planners, and formative/summative assessments
- Assess and track student progress; maintain accurate academic records and report books
- Create and maintain a safe, well-organised, and engaging classroom environment, including displays and learning resources
- Set, review, and return homework in line with school policy within the prescribed timeframe
- Use a variety of teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and support student development
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to uphold academic standards and participate in professional activities
- Communicate student progress and concerns to parents in accordance with school policy and attend parent meetings as required
Qualification & Requirements
- Native English speaker
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Primary Education, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience teaching at primary level
- Strong classroom management and child development knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to plan lessons, assess learning, and use assessment data to inform instruction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
- Commitment to the school’s standards for student wellbeing, discipline, and character development
